I remember back in 1988 1989 we had two music stores that still had Rogers parts and would display the 60s and 70s Rogers the owners owned themselves.

Pete Jones Music closed a few years ago after the last owner died from brain surgery & FrontPorch Music is still around, The owner "Arti" still has about three Rogers sets in the store. He also has an original Ludwig Vistalite set stacked up on a shelf.

In 1987 I had just officialy joined "The Lighthouse Boys", I was about 11 years old. We went up to Fresno, CA to record a song in a studio up there and we passed up a store that simply said Rogers Drums in big bold letters on the building, no other name on the store.

They had nothing but Rogers kits and hardware in the store, The studio told us that store was getting ready to close down, I never found out what happend to them after that. I didn't have the chance to go inside the store.

That is a very sad story. I feel angry when I hear about the greed that destroyed a legend. When I bought my first Big R kit in Tamworth NSW, ( I had learnt to play on an old Pearl kit ), I was in heaven ! Instant respect from all the muso's I played with, ( pity my playing was not up to the standard of the drums, but my playing did pick up incredibly as these drums were easier to play and sounded heaps better ! ).
I wonder what Rogers would have evolved into if it had continued over the last 30 years ?

Greetings all newbie here,
Rogers drums I've own mine since 1979 xp-8 no serial numbers, just had the bearing edges corrected the factory didn't do a quality job, Roy Burns was correct when he stated you need a drummer in the production department to check the quality control, but anyway... like I said I purchased mine in 1979 new, in NH at Progress music store, no longer in business, had to special order them and make weekly payments until they arrived. I bought Rogers because I had a Holiday set way back when and relied on the Rogers name and not very many people had that brand. I've had them in cases for decades because I live in a condo, with the new silent stroke heads I might be able to play again, and thats a good thing.
