Hello from Yorkshire and B&B lugs question

Hello folks,

Just picked up a 62 (i think) black diamond pearl 22 13 16 Rogers Holiday kit. Keller shells as well, which seems pretty unusual for a kit from that year.

Only downside is it has B&B lugs, so i'm going to spend the next 20 years mildly anxious about them failing.

They're in great condition (only a couple are showing any signs of cracking) but i'm sure it will come.

First question, is lug failure inevitable? Or is it just a subset that tend to fail?

Second question, how would you approach this?
1 Replace en masse with modern repros (like these https://www.drumshop.co.uk/products/rogers-b-b-bread-butter-die-cast-lug) and keep the in-tact originals for a rainy day (this would be expensive).
2 Replace as they start to fail
3 Repair as they start to fail (using the propoxywhatsitcalled method)
4 Repair / reinforce en masse to preempt any probs (again using the repair method from this forum).

I'm minded to do 1, cos i don't want a lug to fail at a critical moment. And i'm thinking 2 would be more straight forward than 3. 4 looks like a lot of work and means lathering undamaged lugs w/ epoxy stuff.

Anyway, i'm interesting how other folks have managed this.

Ta

Think the trouble of#4 is best in the long run. Start with the snare, or buy a set of the new lugs for the snare.

Have done the epoxy job and it is a lot of work.

Thank you!

Any other views? Particularly on the first question: is lug failure inevitable?

Sorry for not answering before, but pretty much a given. They were made for calf skin heads. Plastic heads can be put under much more tension.
