Need Identification Help!

Hey Everybody,

I bought this set of Rogers drums over the holiday, from a guy on Craigslist, on a whim. A complete set, minus a stool. Koa finish, 5x14 Big R Dynasonic, 12" 13" 16" toms and a 22" Bass drum.

The bad:
--Someone swapped out original swivo bass spurs with some Ludwigs
--Brown inlay on two bass hoops not the same brown
--Wrap is lifting/cracked on 16" FT.

Thats it! Set just needs new heads and a good cleaning...BUT...after taking a head off all drums to look for paper tags, I discovered, NO TAGS! I can see a rectangular spot on inside of bass drum where there was one, but its not there now.
Grey speckled interior, white felt on mufflers...any ideas?

Small rectangle (app 3/4" x 2+") would be 9/72 label used for several years with A, B , C, D designation letter to better figure year. Large rectangle tag (app 1" x 3") would likely be Powertone / Fullerton badge. Late 60's - 72 era.

Big R on snare is '76 or later. What type of tom mount hardware is on the drums? The spurs on the bass were Swivomatic (4 mount holes) and not Memriloc (2 opposite mount holes) before conversion?

Different brown on the bd rims? Do either look like the Koa wrap? Rogers also had also had a New Mahogany wrap that is similar, but darker. Maybe a mix of the two inserts?

Lifting wrap is east to fix. Check here, or Google for methods.

Amosguy,

Thank you for the response. On closer inspection, what I thought was residue from a tag was probably from a strip of tape, it is larger that the dimensions you indicated.

The brown on the two hoops is similar, one is just darker and the other looks like the Koa...that I can live with.

Tom mount hardware is all Swivo.

Guess Ill have to live without knowing the era...not sure why anyone would take the tags off.
