Re: Cutting the Memriloc hardware?

I used the incorrect terminology. I meant the tom holder down tube. Thanks.

Do not remove the BD support tube. The double tom mount post, can be cut.

You could cause severe structural damage if the Bass Drum Support is removed and replaced by a regular receiver.

I used the wrong term to describe that. I meant the tom holder tube that comes all the way down into the drum. not the actual mount. Thanks for all the input everyone.

With all of the purists around here, I would equivalate that to
Angelina Jolie having a double mastectomy. Oh wait, she already did that. Never mind.

I have done it to pretty much all of my tom arms. I noticed a big difference in the sound from doing so.
Made a post about it. tom arm cut down and resultant resonance

I've heard mention of folks cutting the tom mounts smaller so they don't protrude through the entire drum. I'm curious about trying that, Is there any reason not to?

I slice mine to 4 creeps of pipe. That is the thing that I have seen Pearl holders measure at.

I have cut a few the tubes. No sonic reason not very do it. I utilized a pipe shaper accessible from most any handyman shop.
