I meant the tom holder tube that comes all the way down into the drum. not the actual mount. Thanks for all the input everyone.nondisclosed_email@example.com (pctekk)Sat, 21 Mar 2015 16:07:47 +0000 Re: Cutting the Memriloc hardware?https://brogersownersforum.runboard.com/p45210,from=rss#post45210https://brogersownersforum.runboard.com/p45210,from=rss#post45210Do not remove the BD support tube. The double tom mount post, can be cut. You could cause severe structural damage if the Bass Drum Support is removed and replaced by a regular receiver. nondisclosed_email@example.com (JohnPloughman)Sat, 21 Mar 2015 00:12:37 +0000 Re: Cutting the Memriloc hardware?https://brogersownersforum.runboard.com/p45200,from=rss#post45200https://brogersownersforum.runboard.com/p45200,from=rss#post45200I used the incorrect terminology. The holder is not set up to support the toms without it. Just the holder with the 2 bolts will not prevent side torque to the shell and possible damage. I also did cut the tom holder down tube shorter. No sonic issue there. Just weight removal, although it is minimal at best. EDIT - Cutting the down tube lets it fix in the carry bag easier.nondisclosed_email@example.com (amosguy)Thu, 19 Mar 2015 00:04:00 +0000 Re: Cutting the Memriloc hardware?https://brogersownersforum.runboard.com/p45197,from=rss#post45197https://brogersownersforum.runboard.com/p45197,from=rss#post45197If you are going to cut the center tube, you might as well just remove it. It attaches to the bottom of the shell to support the the weight of the toms and what ever else you have on the holder.nondisclosed_email@example.com (daytonxp8)Wed, 18 Mar 2015 21:18:48 +0000 Re: Cutting the Memriloc hardware?https://brogersownersforum.runboard.com/p45196,from=rss#post45196https://brogersownersforum.runboard.com/p45196,from=rss#post45196Anyone cut the center tube that protrudes into the bass drum? That also looks like it could be much shorter. nondisclosed_email@example.com (pctekk)Wed, 18 Mar 2015 18:53:03 +0000 Re: Cutting the Memriloc hardware?https://brogersownersforum.runboard.com/p45184,from=rss#post45184https://brogersownersforum.runboard.com/p45184,from=rss#post45184I cut down a wishbone piece to get 2 tom arms of the length I wanted. I adjusted my toms on the mounts exactly the way I like them and cut the tubes completely so that they do not protrude into the drums. This definitely made a difference in sonic quality. I also shoved a cork into each of the tubes (note: you'll need a wide cork, like from a champagne bottle) and this also helped the sound. Without a doubt, the Memriloc hardware damps the sound quite a bit. the solution above improves the sound noticeably.nondisclosed_email@example.com (tommykat1)Mon, 16 Mar 2015 19:26:36 +0000 Re: Cutting the Memriloc hardware?https://brogersownersforum.runboard.com/p45179,from=rss#post45179https://brogersownersforum.runboard.com/p45179,from=rss#post45179I set mine up where I wanted the toms to be playable. Then marked the tubes thru the removed bottom head. I cut to the line. That leaves me most of the inside tube to adjust if I want - 2-3 inches.nondisclosed_email@example.com (amosguy)Sun, 15 Mar 2015 19:32:58 +0000 Re: Cutting the Memriloc hardware?https://brogersownersforum.runboard.com/p45178,from=rss#post45178https://brogersownersforum.runboard.com/p45178,from=rss#post45178I cut mine to 4 inches of pipe. These things look like one could easily remove 2 to 2.5 inches off the end without sacrificing any strength at all. I think just leaving an inch past the mounting tube on the tom would still let me put it anywhere I would want to.nondisclosed_email@example.com (pctekk)Sun, 15 Mar 2015 16:49:37 +0000 Re: Cutting the Memriloc hardware?https://brogersownersforum.runboard.com/p45176,from=rss#post45176https://brogersownersforum.runboard.com/p45176,from=rss#post45176I have cut a couple of the tubes.
