Lug Attachments
I just acquired a circa 1973 COB 5" Dyna and a few of the lugs have a screw that does not tighten completely to attach it to the shell. Will a new screw work or does the lug have to be replaced? Or, is it fine the way it is? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Lug Attachments
Try swapping screws with another lug. That will tell you if the screw or the lug is the problem. Go from there.

Re: Lug Attachments
Pull the lug. Dump the spall out of the lug boss. Clean the threads and try the screw. These are thread cutting screws. Sometimes when installed, spall collects on the screw thread and clogs them If over tightened, they will strip. Anytime these are disassembled, the screw threads have to be clean before reassembly. Overtightening will result in a stripped lug. Blanks can be obtained from Al Drews Music, Woonsocket RI. Contact David Drew.
