Dayton Era Label Authentic or Not?
I am trying to determine the authenticity of a Dayton era label on two blue onyx toms:
Maroon ink Dayton label
'Luxor' Crossed out in black marker
'Holiday' written in pencil above border on left top
Initials 'EW' in blue ink above border on right side (quality control inspector I gather)
Serial number in black ink (rather than maroon as seen on many Holiday labels that weren't Luxor labels crossed out)
Toms numbers are 16344 (12" tom) and 16468 (16" FT) This seems to not fit with the dating guide found elsewhere on this forum, but didn't know about altered Luxor labels
I noticed the border on some Rogers labels have poor printing on the corners such that the corners are sloppily done and don't meet perfectly, this one has very distinct corners with no sections of line missing
Does everything seem right here, on the up and up? Appreciate any insights from any Rogers experts out there -relative newby - any help very appreciated - thanks!

Re: Dayton Era Label Authentic or Not?
Not unusual for the label label to be edited with a pen, and someone initials to be added.
They used old labels all the time until they ran out - what ever happened to be on the shelf sometimes.

Re: Dayton Era Label Authentic or Not?
The serial numbers on the various model labels bear no relation to each other. Each model name had it's own serial number sequence: they were printed with the serial number on them, in the thousands.
