Well.... here is my snare. It's not a Rogers but it's all I have right now. I call it my poor mans Dyna-Sonic. It's not in the best of shape. But it has a crack like a bolt of lighting.

Shoot, Phil, it looks really nice. I gotta say, all I know is my own Rogers. I really have never studied or played anything else. I'm pretty limited there...

Don't take this wrong phil, but a sign of the times, I guess!

"has a crack like a bolt of lighting."

Use to be, "this drum has a great press roll, and has a great snare sound when you play it lightly."

Today they have to be loud with lots of sustain and ring.

Just thinking out loud, not pointing fingers.

Longroll, I hear you. When I listen to Steve Gadd on some old fusion stuff--from Chuck Mangione to Stanley Clarke to Steely Dan--I love the dynamics in the his snare use. So sweet.

This is my "Mardi Gras" snare collection, minus an Eagle badge Holiday snare in Mardi Gras.
Dyna-Sonic #5134 (badge from a same period COB)
Holiday #26809
Holiday #19182
Spotlight #8717

Eagle Badge Holiday #10843

All snares have the rounded bearing edge with the 3 ply shells except the Dyna Sonic which has the 5 ply shell and the 45 degree cut edge.

Re: Show Us Your Snares!

Tommy,
I doubt it, those guys are the "quiet" pros that keep pulling these awesome drums out of the closet. We are just seeing the tip of the iceberg I am sure. But it is great to get to see that!

Thanks for comment, I guess I have a niche and what would fill that niche out would be a Mardi Gras Powertone.

At least I have something to keep looking for, I wonder if I will ever find one?

Thanks again Tommy,
Mike emoticon

This is the new Spotlight snare close up - it is very nice.

Re: Show Us Your Snares!

Mike is the keeper of The Beavertail Mardi Gras Dynasonic. Top Rogers stuff there. A great sight to see all in the same place at the same time! The new Comet 3pc Mardi fits in just fine. Great collection!

Peace, Gary

Mike: QED. So says Gary N, The Man! You are one fortunate soul, Mike, but remember that you are the Keeper of the Beavertail Mardi Gras Dyna...

...So be sure that your insurance is kept up to date!
