Why on earth did they stop producing these? Also has anyone actually put an ER Kit alongside an American Rogers and compared?

Finally, did Dave Clark ever take an ER to America and why didn't he bring an America Rogers kit home?

Alun, it came to light recently that Keller often used birch in the plies used for USA Rogers and sometimes all birch. Only difference then would be that ER had vertical grain

We have to remember that ER was always three ply.

I would guess that comparing like for like there wouldn't be much difference, but you'd have to use the same heads, same tuning, same player, and we would all have to listen with the same ears.

Many years ago I used my ER in a club next to a drummer using a Big R Rogers (around 78 this would be) and my band agreed that my ERs sounded better.

As to Dave Clark taking an ER kit to the USA, he took the one I have around the world inc. USA. He did bring a wood shell powertone back to the UK but not a full set, at least that I have seen.

Sorry for highjacking, but Nut Box could you please get ahold of me on another thread... I want to give my Metallic Silver XP8s the natural maple treatment and you seem to be the one to confer with on this... Cheers, Scott
