Re: wine red ripple resto
Ha!!!! I'm with you there, Damien! After I experimented with this technique and reported its success, people told me I could make a business of it. Not hardly. The effort is greater than what anyone would be willing to pay. Some things you just have to do yourself.
Bottom line, however, is the lugs stand the test of time. With the Propoxy repair method, I have over five years on my drums with no signs of failure, and they are stored under tension.

Re: wine red ripple resto
I played the snare and cranked it up with no problems... I put new Remo heads on and it sounds great!
Thanks Tommy for the lug fix....no problems at all!
I retired from playing with my steady band about 3 years ago after 15 years of gigging almost every weekend. But I miss it...I still try and sit in with various bands here and there (once every 3 months) but I'm slowly becoming the drummer in a friends band that has alot of buzz in my area.
We have a gig coming up soon and look forward to playing with this kit....the band is recording soon and I will use this kit or my Big R's...lots of options...win win!

Re: wine red ripple resto
A lot has happened with the kit in the last week...a guy contacted me that has a Motown themed studio here just north of Los Angeles. He came by and made me an offer and I accepted it. He has had a few pro's play on the kit and they are blown away not only by the looks but also the sound.
The kit is the focal point in the studio along with wall art from back in the day of Motown legends. He also picked up the wine red ripple r360 that was on eBay this week. I'm sad to see it go but I have a huge project in the works and this will help fund that.
This was probably the hardest, longest but best resto I have taken on.....until the next one
Thanks to all the positive and helpful comments...this is a great forum with great people and of course the best drums ever!

Re: wine red ripple resto
Damien: what a great next chapter in the life of one of the sweetest drumsets to grace this forum. If you ever have a chance to take a pic of the set in the new studio, please post here. Way to go on the resto. I know it was a labor of love. Till next time...

Re: wine red ripple resto
The results of that restoration were stunning. Very impressive work. I'm sure the studio will appreciate those drums--and hopefully will keep them out of direct sunlight so the finish won't fade.
Thanks for sharing your story.

Re: wine red ripple resto
Thanks for the kind words guy's...the new owner loves them and can't be happier with the story behind these drums!
Tommy...I'm sad too but the cash went straight to fund my 41 ford project that will be on the road very soon! I have painted the car wine red and will be making a 14 x 6.5 keller clone painted the same paint color with all rogers hardware with the ford "super deluxe" script in place of the "Rogers" script....super cool!
