Re: 14x14 with beavertail lugs - do they exist? Yep, got mine!

I bought another sonor tom rosette like the ones that the legs slot into on the FT so it looks right, then the round steel bar goes into that, it's bent into a Z shape and on the end i've welded 1/4" steel plate to it so that my pedal clips onto that instead of the hoop. It's as solid as my 22" BD in play. Also because of the way the sonor spurs are shaped the ones off my 22 just transfer across to the 16! I just copied what sonor use for their 16" jungle BD's Give us your email address and i'll send some pics if you like. Glad to see you own a grey ripple again nutbox!

Got her up and running today .......

Image

Came across some English BT lugs to replace the ones that had been sawn off, and replaced the legs with some of the same ER donor FT and likewise the grommet. Bottom hoop is gereric.

Not without its problems, there is some damage left by the sawing and someone has used wire wool on the top hoop.

But over all turned out nice. emoticon emoticon emoticon

Nice one Nutbox - but frustrating that any one would put a hacksaw anywhere near such a lovely instrument!

Looks good though! How does it sound - are you pleased with it?

I'll come back to that damage another time. This is the first phase so to speak.

Threw some heads on it and it sounded great straight off.

I'm working on the bass drum now. I'm looking to make this my playing kit. These drums have the sound I like from my youth and I seemingly keep trying to make others sound like them. When I get them fixed up I'm going to put my XP8s away, at least for while.

Nice lil floor tom - I like them compact. I wouldn't worry about its little imperfections, especially if when your playing them they take you way back - that's worth a million gallons of t-cut alone! What sort of music do you play live? Under the stage lights that kit will still look and sound a million bucks!

Awesome! emoticon

How soon before you have the whole thing ready to rock & roll & post pics of the whole kit?

Like thefunkydrumma asks - I'd love to know what sort of stuff you play live too - maybe we could have an "ER" rogues gallery of us all playing our kits live? emoticon

Look forward to seeing the pics of the whole kit! emoticon

Best wishes

I play in a Pop/Rock band with a girl singer so Kelly Clarkson, Adele, Republica, Amy Winehouse, Blondie etc. The singer is good and myself and the bass player are fairly competent but the two guitarists leave a bit to be desired so it's getting frustrating.

Had a phone call tonight from a bloke asking me if I could do a wedding next month. He has a 25 piece dance band but this will be a 6 piece - I'm saying yes. Need to work on my samba!

Hey Nutbox,

Just came across this post. I got a beavertail 14" yesterday off eBay, unfortunately drilled for 60s newera floor tom leg mounts, wrap has been stripped and painted black, sounds ace though!
