Re: ENGLISH ROGERS PROTOYPE BADGE HAS LANDED!!

Hi Nutbox,

Thank you for the compliments on the Prem - much appreciated!.

Also thanks for the valuable info on the Mardi Gras kit - really really useful. I did get to play it a few times back in '82 as the original owner (a young lady) who had split up with her boyfriend & he had left them behind & she asked me if I could clean them up & put new heads on them so she could sell them - which I duly did.

I tried them out to make sure they were ok - I did one recording session with them and they did sound rather good from what I can remember?

At the time I had several other kits, newly married living in a small terraced house & the missus wasn't really keen on me having another kit in the house - so I passed on them & she ended up selling them to this other drummer who has had them ever since (he always played Rogers drums & had an old US kit in a White wrap). I have known him for years & depped for him a few times.

Take on board your points ref suitability for a "playing" kit in terms of the BB lugs - I'll keep working on him and consider making an offer in the price ranges you have mentioned.

Let you know how I get on!

Yes - it's a shame we won't be at the Drum Fair on the same days.

Anyone else out there planning to be there on the Sunday? Would love to say hello!

Also - does anyone else think it might be a good idea to perhaps see if Baskeys can produce a replica swivo set screw as these also seem to be hard to get hold of other than from the USA which is expensive?

Let me have your opinions & I will pursue it if there is enough interest.

Cheers for now

Steve

Hi Steve,

Re: set screws, very good idea, just looked at the JP2 site and they are not only out of stock but out of production so even more incentive to do it.
I think the Knobby pull screws for the floor tom fitting would be good to do alongside the set screws, I'm sure most Rogers fans here have had problems with those, I certainly have.

Whaddya reckon Nutbox? got to be a good idea eh?

Burt

Re: ENGLISH ROGERS PROTOYPE BADGE HAS LANDED!!

See this is were I should write things down. There is a seller on ebay in the UK that for some reason has NOS Rogers items. Her name is Sue and I'm writing just trying to remember the .................... Halibot? or Halibot42 maybe?

I always struggle to search for sellers by name, so if someone would like to give that a try.

I have had some memriloc bits off her, screws and such and she has stuff that she keeps listing on ebay which doesn't sell. I did get a collection of parts from here at one time which included a couple of swivo set screws.

Note: The swivo arm ball joint only requires 2 set screws. This is how they were supplied in the US. The idea is that 2 adjacent screws push the ball over to the opposite side of the socket therby locking it there. If you use 4 screws then all you do is suspend the ball in the joint and defeat the purpose. You may not need as many as you think! emoticon emoticon

Joe Thompson designed it this way but in the UK they supplied it with 4 screws and clearly missed the point.

Hi Nutbox,

You were right ref the Ebay handle - it was
Halibot42. They are checking what stocks they have as I type. Person who responded was called Mark? emoticon

Also, is the same logic applied for the swivo cymbal tilters? I.E - should you use one screw or two screws?

The floor tom pull screws would definitely be a good repro idea as Burt66 suggests - mine are pretty ropey to say the least & this is one of the items I've asked Halibot42 for.

Cheers!

I would think two screw for the cym tilter because they act together to push the ball over to one side.

I remembered why I didn't write Sue's ebay name down. I have her email address emoticon emoticon emoticon
