ENGLISH ROGERS PROTOYPE BADGE HAS LANDED!!
Hi Everyone,
I have in my hands as of today, a plastic pre-production sample of the English Rogers badge!
Nutbox - please could you let me have your address & I will get it posted to you asap so you can check it over against one of your originals?
If you could return it once you have approved / disapproved it that would be great.
I'll let everyone know once they have manufactured the first batch.
Cheers for now!
Kindest regards
Steve (dikbarton57)

Re: ENGLISH ROGERS PROTOYPE BADGE HAS LANDED!!
Hi Steve
email sent
This is what they should look like.
The top one is by far the most common. The bottom one is 66/67.

Hi Nutbox
Great - picked up your e-mail - will try & get it off to you on Friday.
As far as I can see its the bottom one 66-67 - is that the one that has the 45mm pin spacing? (That's the spacing on my Rogers).
Regards
Steve

Re: ENGLISH ROGERS PROTOYPE BADGE HAS LANDED!!
Steve, no the 45mm hole spacing won't get covered by the later logo.
The 45mm spacing is for the top logo. It has a peg at the back at the extreme end of the underscore.
It crossed my mind to mention this but I thought the odds of the donor logo being the later one was pretty remote.

Re: ENGLISH ROGERS PROTOYPE BADGE HAS LANDED!!
Hi Steve, logo arrived this am. They did use the earlier (45mm between centres) logo. That's a relief. Very nice job too.
Overall their logo is a little shorter than the original (around 1/4") but it should still be just about long enough to cover the holes. The earlier logo is by far the most common so if they are going to make one then this would be the way to go.
The details of the casting are a little finer on their logo as well. The linking between the letters is really quite thin. I am being very picky though. Overall it is a very true likeness.
There are two problems though as I see it -
1. The plastic that it is cast in is quite stiff, and feels like if I were to try and bend it around a 12" shell it would break. Maybe it could be bent with a bit of heat from a kettle or a radiator? (I'll leave that for you to try.) If you glued it onto a shell stiff and straight as it is, then the ends would stick out and catch on stuff. The beauty of the originals is that the soft aluminium alloy bent around whatever it was fixed to.
2. Do you know what they propose to finish it in? Is the buyer supposed to paint it? I tried something like this myself and all the "chrome" paints that I could find remained tacky so that it kept it's shiny appearance.
I hope I'm not coming over negative, it is great that you have persisted with this and got someone interested in doing it, but if they can get it right then more of us will buy them.
I'll send it back on Monday.
Cheers
Alan

Re: ENGLISH ROGERS PROTOYPE BADGE HAS LANDED!!
Hi Alan
My understanding is that they were going to fabricate in either chromed brass or stainless (I think) steel.
I said to Baskeys that I felt Stainless Steel would be to stiff to bend around a shell.
So I would have thought brass was the way to go?
The plastic one was purely for laser cutting sample purposes.
So, all in all - if the material it is fabricated from is ok - are you saying that the design in principal would be acceptable?
Kindest regards
Steve

Re: ENGLISH ROGERS PROTOYPE BADGE HAS LANDED!!
Brass sounds great. Could be chromed and bent - excellent!
All I would say is just a little short but not enough to worry about. If anything can be done about that then great.
I have a laser cut one which is in stainless and it is very stiff and a little thicker in the script than this one. This one is a bit thin in the script but it would thicken slightly if it was chromed.
They must be aware that this one is a bit short if they have a sample.

Hi Alan
OK - great. I will mention the length issue to them & push for the chromed brass option.
I'll let you know their responses.
Cheers for now.
Kind regards
Steve
