Re: “F” stamps inside Rogers shells

Ploughman, Thanks for looking. This is getting fun. The latest I have is a 12" beavertail tom with a 37979 Holiday Cleve tag.

Isaac, Here are some more #23,307 flat edge drum pics. It has some marker numbers on the interior prob from a school. It was listed on the Ebay as a 5x14. One of the few 6.5 Holidays I've been able to get my hands on. And when Petty makes large B+B repros...

I think it means front. I see that its near the gromet in many cases, so is mine {29XXX}. Maybe if you look for common denominators. Muffler location and gromets, snare beds, throw off ect. When its near the lable, I'll bet the throw is on the other side {lefty} could also be location of the muffler too left side right, top center ect. and we could make reference to the gromet when asking where its located in a clock position. Just a thought. Good luck on your quest.

Re: “F” stamps inside Rogers shells

Rogersholic, I honesty never thought of that! I have failed to define that in my F exell sheet. I will have to go back and add it up but by memory I am thinking not. I seem to remember about 50/50. I will check it out.

Gary, put up as many pictures as you want of that drum! It never gets old. When are you coming to do the Gary Nelson portion of the MOG web site?? I think JP will make those repros for you, call him.

Ploughman, thanks for looking. Those numbers are right at the end of what I have seen so far. Cool!

Thank you to every one for looking. It would all be in vein if these drums didn't sound the way they do!

Re: “F” stamps inside Rogers shells

Gary had asked me about whether there was an "F" stamped in any of my Champagne Sparkle drums, and I did not notice one in the reinforcement ring - but I just realized that 3 of the drums were marked "F" on the tag. I just thought that this was the initial of the assembler or inspector, but who knows, maybe there is something there?

I see the handwritten F on many tags???? We need to get someone who worked in the factory to help with some of these mysteries.

I think who ever "F" is on those lables, last name began with "W" I see many with F or FW, there's 3 in eBay right now. I do believe that mark, is worker signing off his work. These may or may not be related. Its all a "shell game".

He also worked in Dayton as seen here.
