Re: Show Us Your Snares
I guess that "picked up" is a bit unclear.
A local music store took in a full kit and I ended up buying it from the music store. You may have seen the original post on DFO.
As you can see, everything was just covered in dust and grime. Finish is in great shape on all drums, just a little faded. There is actually more of a blue tone to the unexposed wrap under the lugs. All hardware is in great shape too. Only needed a dawn bath on most to clean it up.
I probably paid a little too much, but I'm happy. I now have a very clean Rogers '68 Dayton kit 20,12,14 with a matching dynasonic, along with HH, snare stand, cymbal arm and kick pedal. I thought I would never own a wood dynasonic or a Rogers kit with a 14' FT so it was worth it to kill two birds with one stone. It was also worth it to get it from a reputable place where I could actually see what I was getting. I've never really been burned on Ebay, but at some point that luck will run out.
Kick is flat grey, rack and floor are speckled. Almost done cleaning up the kick drum then I'll post a couple of pics of the whole kit.

Re: Show Us Your Snares
This is the SuperTen discussed in the auctions section. It is quite clean indeed. I did notice some minor swirl marks under the clear coat but I think it still is the original clear coat. Maybe someone at the factory had a hangover? No bigger chips or cracks in it either.
Oh well, the shell is unmodified and so is the hardware -> I'm happy.

Re: Show Us Your Snares
It is in every way a cleaner drum than the other 14x8" XP-10 SuperTen that I had. These pics are taken "out of the box" so I'm guessing it will be really nice after I give it a good buffing.
And no worries, I will be gentle
