please, a question about Memriloc & suspension mounts
Grrr, I could have sworn I posted this question already.
I'd like to try using an aftermarket suspension mount with my Big R tom, and maybe also add a script badge tom with the same system and not have to change the hardware on it.
But I can't figure out how these mounts like the Gibraltar work. Do you have to take the mount off the tom and put it on the suspension mount? If not...Will it even work with the big 1-inch tubes in a Memriloc system? I was looking a a rig one guy was using and it looked like it would take up to 7/8 tube at most.
Or maybe I've got the concept all wrong. Anyone?

I have never used a suspension mount but I know several of you out there have. C'mon, help the lady out.

Re: please, a question about Memriloc & suspension mounts
Sorry funmachine, I'm with Jack on this one.
There is a forumite who has not been around lately named daninflag. He has set up his Londoner 7 XP8 outfit with a new style suspension system. He posted pics in the Fullerton section last year. He's very friendly. Send him a PM.

Re: please, a question about Memriloc & suspension mounts
I use suspension mounts - various flavors. The last ones I bought were from drummaker.com:
http://www.drummaker.net/1-800-NEW-DRUM/www.drummaker.com/FMPro?-dbM_Orders.fp5&-format=jumphardware.htm&-new
I bought a set with tom mounts too - plain round ones - because I didn't have any mounts on my Rogers toms. But for my Ludwigs, I kept the original mount on the tom, because I didn't want a hole to be visible, plus the new mounts worked better. I simply rotated the drum and had the original mount hidden from audience view. This means that I can remove the iso system easily and the drum is original. As most Memriloc drums have a really ugly hole underneath them, I would do the same. Of course you will have to find another way of mounting the toms - like a rack or some tube arrangement which fits the Rogers kick mount plus your new tom mounts. It may not be as pretty as the Rogers original, but personally, I don't like any tube inside my toms and the Memriloc seemed rather dampening to me. Whatever you do, try and preserve the drums because if you alter them, they are (imo) very much reduced in heritage and value.
--- Regards,
PK.
