Correct Front Head Options for My Bass??
OK...
20" Holiday Bass Drum (script logo, beavertails, bowtie handles, red sparkling pearl, Cleveland sticker #52106)
What would my choices have been for a front head on this one back in the day?? Thanks!

Re: Correct Front Head Options for My Bass??
Remo Coated Ambassador on the front.
It those days they used the above head front and back with a 2" wide felt strip from 11:00 o'clock to 7:00 o'clock front and back and a Dr.Scholls mole skin where the beater hit the batter head (NOTE: one patch cut in half, made two patches).
Dave at Al Drews Music has rolls of the original Rogers felt strips.
I use a Remo Coated Ambassador on front no felt strip and a Remo Coated Powerstroke 3 on the back with felt strip 4 to 8 o'clock and a Dr.Scholls mole skin patch<---old school.

Funny! I use the Dr Scholls patches too. I only busted a bass drum head once, and that was before the patch.

Re: Correct Front Head Options for My Bass??
Thanks Bruce! Which Rogers logo on the front head?? Would the Remo logo have been visible??
P.S. Moleskins are awesome!! I have been using them for about 20 years on all of my kits.

Re: Correct Front Head Options for My Bass??
Bruce, I don't recall my celebrity kit from 1967 ever having the felt strip.
Note: I was a kid of 13 at the time. I remember waiting for the drums to arrive for months after we ordered them. When they finally came, the music store said they had to assemble and tune them before we could pick them up. After two more days of waiting, my dad, brother and I said the heck with this and we muscled our way into the store and grabbed the unopen boxes. We were so darned excited!
We set them up at home and tuned them ourselves. It could be that the felts were in the box and we didn't know what they were for. But I honestly can't remember them, or we would have called the store.
