Rogers 1938 rocket lug snare on Ebay
I just noticed this listing on Ebay:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250133220845&sspagename=ADME:B:AAQ:US:1
Here was my response:
Your drum has 6 Gretsch Rocket lugs and a 2pt. Leedy presto throw off. In the 1938 Rogers catalog this was their student entry model(6 lug not 8). It will not say Rogers anywhere on it. Could also be a Gretsch but I'm not sure if their version would have a Gretsch throw off. When the Rogers Co. first started making drums instead of just calf heads they used other companies parts assembled them in Farmingdale NJ and called them Rogers. Hope this helps.
I looked it up in the 1938 catalog and it is "NO.8030 all metal model, nickel plated shell 5"x14" $19.50 Newton orchestra Drums-Daisy Brand."
Did I mention I like this Rogers Company and the detective work of trying to figure it out!
Peace, Gary
