The 8x14's were not drilled using the pneumatic machine, they were done by hand in a jig. Unfortunately I do not have the tooling for cutting the snare beds and I don't know what became of it.

Thanks for the reply. I figured you used a jig because of the ten lugs. One last question if you do not mind. I noticed the receiver for the tom post is turned around on the 18 x 22, and 24 inch bass drums when compared to the 14x22 inch bass drums. On the extended bass drums the wing nut faces the drummer and on the standard size bass drums the wing nut faces away from the drummer. But the big hole is in the same spot. Was this for aesthetic reasons?
Thanks again for taking the time John.
Kevin

I believe we got some feedback that it would be more convenient facing the player. Retooling for the deeper shell allowed us the opportunity to make the change. I'd be interested to hear what people think today now that both have been out there for a long while.

Hi John, thanks for the reply. That does make sense to have the wing nut face the player. I have bass drums both ways and never noticed a problem. Once tightened everything stayed put. I do like the position of the mount from an aesthetic view point on the deeper shells.. It just looks better with the longer end of the mount going over the deeper part of the shell.
Thanks for answering my questions. I appreciate you taking the time.
