That does make sense to have the wing nut face the player. I have bass drums both ways and never noticed a problem. Once tightened everything stayed put. I do like the position of the mount from an aesthetic view point on the deeper shells.. It just looks better with the longer end of the mount going over the deeper part of the shell. Thanks for answering my questions. I appreciate you taking the time. Retooling for the deeper shell allowed us the opportunity to make the change. I'd be interested to hear what people think today now that both have been out there for a long while.nondisclosed_email@example.com (JohnC 1984)Wed, 31 Jul 2013 20:16:50 +0000 Re: 1981 - David Garibaldihttps://brogersownersforum.runboard.com/p42906,from=rss#post42906https://brogersownersforum.runboard.com/p42906,from=rss#post42906Thanks for the reply. I figured you used a jig because of the ten lugs. One last question if you do not mind. I noticed the receiver for the tom post is turned around on the 18 x 22, and 24 inch bass drums when compared to the 14x22 inch bass drums. On the extended bass drums the wing nut faces the drummer and on the standard size bass drums the wing nut faces away from the drummer. But the big hole is in the same spot. Was this for aesthetic reasons? Thanks again for taking the time John. Unfortunately I do not have the tooling for cutting the snare beds and I don't know what became of it.nondisclosed_email@example.com (JohnC 1984)Mon, 29 Jul 2013 21:45:17 +0000 Re: 1981 - David Garibaldihttps://brogersownersforum.runboard.com/p42546,from=rss#post42546https://brogersownersforum.runboard.com/p42546,from=rss#post42546Hi John. Hope all is well. I hate to be a pain with questions, but I have another one if you don't mind answering it. When you built the 8 x 14 snare drums, did you use a special jig for that, like the one you explain in one of your posts? or did you put it on the machine that drilled the holes for the toms and bass drums? thanks Kevin PS - if you have the jig for the snare beds and put that on the block, I would be interested.nondisclosed_email@example.com (daytonxp8)Sun, 02 Jun 2013 17:20:39 +0000 Re: 1981 - David Garibaldihttps://brogersownersforum.runboard.com/p42541,from=rss#post42541https://brogersownersforum.runboard.com/p42541,from=rss#post42541I need to sort through the piles and see how many I have. I've been using them for every different setup I've had over the years. The stock version mates with a ratchet. This one had the hole drilled out for a 1" tube and a Memriloc clamp receiver welded on. I have a few of them and it's a real game changer in terms of what you can fly off of a single stand.nondisclosed_email@example.com (JohnC 1984)Mon, 27 May 2013 19:54:43 +0000 Re: 1981 - David Garibaldihttps://brogersownersforum.runboard.com/p15328,from=rss#post15328https://brogersownersforum.runboard.com/p15328,from=rss#post15328quote:JohnsRogers wrote: tk.....I Tower of Power twice a few years ago and he was back with them...man, he played effortlessly.... did he leave them again ?
