I ahd read that soaking chrome parts in "Dawn" for hours will get most crud off.
I hadn't believed it too much, but my first attempt at cleaning some chrome proved it to me. I was able to clean about 6 of the 8 lugs I had thought were not salvageable.
And instead of needing 5 new bass lugs, I only need 2. And the Big R floor tom mounts are good now too.
I even had one with some kind of white substance on it --- almost like a coating of "Liquid Paper".
Dawn loosened it all up, and a toothbrush finished the cleaning for me.
Now, if I can just find a way to clean those dirty Big R thumb screws.
Tim
Tim, on your suggestion, I soaked all of the parts I pulled off of a 1962 Holiday floor tom and snare in Dawn. Let the solution sit overnight...and WOW! This is something I never, ever would have thought doing, and it worked better than I could have imagined. Some things I will not even need to use metal polish on! Way cool, thanks for the tip.

If any of you blokes need some "fairy liquid" all you have to do is go up to capital hill(seattle) during the gay pride parade. There is a lifetime supply up there!
