posticon New Rogers Player

Sup, Everyone. I couldn't help but join the forum after reading a bit. Let me give a little background on myself. I'm 48 years old and have been playing drums since I was six. I've started playing clubs at 15, then professionally, full time, after high school. Played on the road and clubs about 10 years. Then "burn out" took over and I got married, became a working man, played a little here and there, which leads me here. My first kit was coffee cans with plastic lids, then a Kent snare drum and a cheap ride at age 9, later a 4 piece set of Slingerland, a 7 piece set of Maple Ludwigs, a 5 piece set of Pearl and the love of my life, a 6 piece set of Drum Workshop, I still miss that kit! Even though the cases made good night stands I had to break down and believe I would no longer need them and sold them. I met up with an old friend a year ago and he invited me to set in with his band. When the regular drummer quit a few weeks ago I was hired full time. I had no drums so my friend offered to but a used kit from the exiting drummer. A seven piece set of Rogers in blue mist. I ask your help in dating them....I mean determining their date of origin. I will take some pics this weekend to post. They've been pretty much butchered from thier original state as far as hardware goes. There are no labels on the inside, the bass drum is not painted on the inside, They have big "R" badges with no serial numbers. The inset trim on the bass hoops seems to be aluminum or similar, it is not a Rogers snare. I look forward to participating in the forum and speaking with ya'll, yes, I'm from the south. Later

Sup yourself Trapstdw! Welcome to the ROF emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon Glad to have you here with us.

Looking forward to the pictures. Sounds like you might have a set of XP8's with the unpainted interiors. Will be able to tell more when the pics arrive.

Again welcome!

Hi trpastdw, glad you're here. I agree with Jack, maybe XP8s you have there, or possibly Island imports, if the hardware looks suspicious.

Welcome to Rogers heaven!

The drum sizes are 12", 13", 14", 15" mounted toms, 16" floor tom and 22" bass, the hardware has all been removed except for the bass drum tom receiver and replaced with a RIMS system using Gibraltar stands, leaving holes where the hardware used to be. Island imports you say? Never heard of 'em. They look to be maple wood, too.
