Memorial Day

It's been very quite here at the old ROF this weekend. I'm guessing you all had cookouts, family get togethers, Indy 500's and such.

I hope you all took a moment or two to pay your respects to people who have and are serving our country and especially those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

I went fly fishing and had a rehearsal yesterday and today the weather is just plain ugly so not much going on.

I hope you all had a nice weekend.

I had to work today, but it was OK here, quiet and I got a chance to talk to my favorite Vet, my Dad. He's 82, servered and fought in Italy during the latter days of WW2.

I was really touched this morning. I have 2 boys, 14 & 10. They fixed me breakfast and had made cards thanking me for my service in Vietnam. Both cards were a plea for World Peace. Gotta love them . . .

I love your boys and it's obvious they love you.

I took a trip to the cemetary today and walked through the Flags of Honor to the fallen during the Iraq/Afghanistan wars. I quietly said a prayer for all those families, and all those serving. And a prayer of thanks that my own son came home safe. To all who have served their respective countries in the defense of freedom........thank you.

Good Grief, I hope all these wars and conflicts are done with before my sons get to that age. I'd hate to have to go through what parents deal with when their kids are in the service.

Eight US soldiers were killed in Iraq on Memorial Day making May the deadliest month in Iraq this year. It seems like people care more about who won American Idol.

I, for one, am sick of this war.
