Could use some help with this one
http://cgi.ebay.com/Rogers-Vintage-15-snare-drum-Purple_W0QQitemZ270122139817QQihZ017QQcategoryZ38095QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
Is this finish original or a rewrap? I know the lugs are slingerland. Ive seen the purple but not this type pearl/crazing. Its part of a set, mount is present. Thats a rare script too. Any imput on this finish would be helpful. Thanx in advance.

Re: Could use some help with this one
That's Purple Diamond Pearl. It is an original Rogers finish from the late 50s, never cataloged, but used for several years.
That's a 1958/59 Holiday snare drum that mounted off of the bass drum, no snare drum stand needed, that's what the Swivo collet plate on the side of the drum is for. It came with tall hoops and B&B lugs (missing, changed to Slingerland Lugs).
The oversized script badge was a short run version used in the late 50s, they are rare.
I can't tell if the interior is black or flat gray, but I can see the near flat bearing edges.
I have a Purple Diamond Pearl snare drum, I'll try to post pictures.

Re: Could use some help with this one
Thanx for the help bruce. I want to bid, but the seller wont respond to the mount being added or if the holes where enlarged or elongated fit the gretch or slingerland lugs. I have all the parts to restore it, but it'll be his loss, for not replying. Somethin doesnt seem right with that finish. The ones I saw had more chunk like diamonds. Like the black. I would like to have it tho. Thanx again

Re: Could use some help with this one
I'd say the mount is original, but I'd worry about the holes, and the condition of the wrap under the lugs. Those lugs are larger than B&Bs.

Re: Could use some help with this one
He did reply 4 min before auctions end. Those lugs also have rectangular backing plates to cover the damage from holes on the inside. Thanx bruce for saving a heart break. Still wasnt a bad price... I also know there's a set in this color on the german rogersdrumfan web sight.
