XP8 kick with no badges or vents

Hi guys,

I've been on the hunt for an XP8 kit for a while now and came across one I'm about to pull the trigger on.

The 12" tom is in rough shape but I won't even really use it. The rest of the drums look great, but the kick drum does not have an badges or air vents...

I've been in contact with the guy and he says the shells are in perfect round, bearing edges all clean, all the drums are in great shape aside from the 12", and regarding the kick not having a badge or vent holes he had "no explanation that I know of other than the company was in its last few years of existence"

Does this sound right? All the hardware on the kick is there and the shells seem to look the same as the toms. Seems a bit strange to me though and I just want to be 100% sure it's an actual XP8 kick drum before grabbing these drums.

Many thanks in advance for any advice.

Matt

Sometimes this means the shell was re-wrapped. Is the vent seen from the inside of the drum? Count the plies on the base drum. If there is a different number that would mean it is not an xp8 shell.
Hope this helps.

He confirmed there's no vent holes at all in the kick drum (inside or out) and that they're 8 ply XP8's.
