Aquarian Heads
Just wonder if any one has had a go at using an Aquarian Jack DeJohnette Batter with an Aquarian Classic Clear Snare Head on a Dynasonic 14"x6 1/2",I would be interrested to know how the drum might sound ,Or are they not a good match?

Re: Aquarian Heads
I go with what they came with: Remo Ambassador Coated batter and Remo Ambassador Hazy resonant. Sounds great.

Re: Aquarian Heads
I put a Evans 300 hazy snare side and a G1 batter on my recently acquired COB Dyna. Took a bit of tweaking with head tension, but it sounds great.

Actually, Dynas came from the factory with a coated Remo Dilomat batter and a Remo hazy/clear reso.
I have recently started using Aquarian Focus X batters on my Dyna and COB Powertone I love 'em.

Re: Aquarian Heads
I've used the DeJohnette heads on toms and snares. they are nice and warm, they sound fine on a Dyna, but they do reduce the sensitivity a liitle, which might work for you.

Re: Aquarian Heads
Coated Diplomat, Ambassador or Evans J1 etched are what I like. I haven't tried any aquarian on the Dyna.

Re: Aquarian Heads
I have used Aquarians on other snares to get a certain tone or effect from the drum. I find most Aquarians favor a darker tone. The surface tension of their film has a softer feel to it, too. I have found their snare side heads sound good on my smaller snare drums, they add a little more ooomph to them. My 12x7" Pearl Maple sounds best with one.
My Dyna has a tried and true coated Amby batter and a Ludwig Weathermaster snare side. If you haven't tried the Weathermaster yet, do it now! It's the best snare side head I have tried. Have been switching all of my 14" snares over to the Weathermaster when snare side changes are due for that drum. It seems to sit somewhere between an Amby and a Diplo, it has lots of tone and sensitivity.
