Been Busy, No Time!

Hey gang, sorry I haven't been around much lately. My new band has been rehearsing like crazy, and my old band (that I'm still part of) hosts a Sunday night open mic that is a heckuva blast. I spend a lot of time making videos and coupling high quality digital audio to it. We post some of the performances on YouTube. Here's one from Sunday featuring a decent guitar player/vocalist who stopped in. At this show, I gig the trusty blue sparkle Headliner:

Keep Your Hands To Yourself

And, my new band, "Chaotic Soul," made its debut last Friday at a wine bar in Portland. I dusted off the Londoner 5 for this big room. Man, adding just ONE more tom to a 4 piece entails hauling a ton more stuff. Since you lose your L arm cymbal mount, you have to add a stand with weight and telescoping arm, etc., etc. But this room called for a 22" bass drum and the 6.5" Powertone, as well as the brand-x concert toms.

Unfortunately, the audio turned out poorly. The room is a huge old warehouse with tall ceilings and a dozen or so couches and overstuffed chairs. Concrete floor. Boomy and echo-y. I use a little two track Tascam DR1, and it just didn't sound too good. Miked the BD and had an overhead for the other drums. Should have miked everything.
